Another ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ student recently earned a national award. Wycliffe Kenani, an ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) student, has been named a Hurst Review NCLEX Scholar by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Kenani was one of only 10 students to receive the honor. This scholarship is designed to assist Phi Theta Kappa nursing students who plan to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEXÆ) during the Spring 2017 term. It comes with free use of the Hurst Review study materials ($300 value) and a $250 scholarship to pay for NCLEX exam fees.

?This is the first year that Phi Theta Kappa has offered this scholarship and we are very pleased to have one of our chapter members named a Hurst Review NCLEX Scholar,? Dr. Melissa Fulgham, Advisor for ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ?s Alpha Mu Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, said.

Kenani graduated from ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ?s Licensed Vocational Nursing program last year and then transitioned into the ADN program. He is originally from the town of Kisii in southwestern Kenya. He learned about ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ through a friend and he decided to give it a try and was accepted to ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. He now resides in Pittsburg.

?The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ nursing program has pushed me to be better thanks to great faculty members,? Kenani said. ?My career goal is to work either as an ER or ICU nurse after completing my studies here at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.?

He also expressed an interest in geriatric care and infectious disease research. After graduating from ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, Kenani plans to pursue his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and, ultimately, complete a Doctorate in Nursing and come back to educate students at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.

?Wycliffe is a dedicated, hardworking student who is very deserving of this honor. We are so glad that Phi Theta Kappa has established this scholarship to help nursing students prepare for and fund their NCLEX examinations,? Tonya Taylor, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Director of Nursing, said.
