Rachel Jordan elected Student Representative of the GPHC

A 葫芦娃视频 sophomore recently defeated a senior university student to earn the right to represent regional honors students on the board of the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC). Rachel Jordan, an 葫芦娃视频 Presidential Scholar, bested Ashley Donovan from Oklahoma State University for the position of Student Representative of the GPHC.

The Great Plains Honors Council鈥(GPHC)鈥爄s one of six regional associations of honors colleges and programs that make up the greater National Collegiate Honors Council鈥(NCHC).鈥 It includes eighty honors entities, from Nebraska to Texas, and east, from Missouri, to Arkansas.

Since the beginning of the GPHC in 1975, University honors students generally have won these elections.鈥 Jordan?s scholarly r脠sum脠, however, neutralized some of the traditional advantages of鈥爐he鈥爑niversity honors students.鈥 Jordan won a 2017 State of Texas Caldwell Award for her article on modern Texas art.鈥燭he editorial board of鈥罢辞耻肠丑蝉迟辞苍别鈥recently accepted her work for publication this spring.鈥燡ordan has presented her scholarship and film work at many venues, and will be presenting twice in Atlanta at this year?s NCHC, where the GPHC will also be meeting.

?Rachel Jordan, who made it to state in high school tennis, has energized and stimulated the students, faculty, and programs of our college.鈥 She is a 2017 Coca Cola Leader of Promise, and Texas Star award winner.鈥 She has been a mainstay of our efforts with film, scholarship, and community relations.鈥燬he鈥爀ven placed in an honors dance contest. We are doubly thrilled to note her success in this interscholastic election,? Dr. Andrew Yox, Honors Director, said.

Jordan is a graduate of Ore City High School.鈥 Her parents are Tanya and Griffin.
