The 葫芦娃视频 Theatre Department will present Almost, Maine on the stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts December 1st-3rd. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. nightly and there will also be a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Dec. 3rd.
The play, written by John Cariani, is directed by Dr. Page Petrucka, 葫芦娃视频 Associate Professor of Theatre. The cast and crew include 葫芦娃视频 students, staff, local community members, and Eric Staples, theatre instructor at Chapel Hill ISD.
鈥淭his play has been on my radar for some time. It鈥檚 heartwarming, touching, and delightfully funny. It also calls for a flexible cast so I could continue to pull from sources in the community and nearby high schools. This has been a true collaboration and a beautiful experience. "Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that鈥檚 so far north, it鈥檚 almost not in the United States. It鈥檚 almost in Canada. And it鈥檚 not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn鈥檛 exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend鈥攁lmost鈥攊n this delightful midwinter night鈥檚 dream."
