ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ recently held a ceremony to recognize 11 students who successfully completed the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program. Those graduating from the program included: Back row (from left) Evette Alford, instructor; Rachel Smith of Talco; Lori Tursam of Pittsburg; Billie Kealer of Pittsburg; Jessica Lewis of Naples and Kelly Brindley of Pittsburg. Seated (from left) are: Tammie Burkett of Omaha; Karla Ugalde of Cookville; Kim Onley of Scroggins; Gretchen Bell of Talco and Whitney Ferrell of Omaha, and not pictured is Michelle McCarley of Cookville.

These students attended nine weeks of classes with clinical experience at a local nursing facility. In the CNA program, students learn to handle the day-to-day care of patients in hospitals, assisted living and long-term care facilities. Eyvette Alford, RN was the instructor.

CNAs work under the supervision of nursing and medical staff and are crucial to patient care. In fact, CNAs often have the most patient contact and can have a great impact on a patient's well-being.

Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to take the state CNA exam that is needed to obtain certification.

The CNA program is offered through the Continuing Education department at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ in the fall, spring and summer semesters. For more information, or to register, contact Lisa York at 903-434-8134.
