Whatley Employee Enhancement grant winners announced

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation announced the winners of the 2013-2014 Whatley Employment Enhancement Awards this week. Seven out of the 20 proposals were chosen for funding. Winning employees and projects included:

Melody Henry, (Communities in Schools/ACE/Upward Bound) - CAPPED@ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ - $2,000.00

Jennifer Myers (Dual Credit/Distance Education) - C.O.R.E.-Creating Opportunities for Revolutionary Education $2,340.00

Sue Barker/Freida Thomas (Adult Education) - Transitioning into Excellence $1,500.00

Mark Bouwens (Physics) - Staring at the Starry Night $915.45

Jim Swann (Foreign Languages) - Sister City in a Foreign Nation $1,000

Jill Dietze (Distance Learning) - Keeping an Eye on the Caddo Project - $500.00 (Private Funds)

Andrew Yox (Honors) - Harriet Potter Ames: Feminist Legend of the Texas Revolution $800.00 (Private Funds)

Grant Total Award $9,055.45

The total amount awarded was $9,055.45. Funds for the Whatley Employment Enhancement Awards come from an endowment created by Mr. and Mrs. James Whatley. This allows ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ employees to get financial support for innovative projects that might not otherwise be funded.

"Each year we are impressed by the quality and the number of proposals we receive. Our employees care about making ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ a better place for students and this is a small way we can encourage their creativity and enthusiasm," Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Vice President for Advancement, said.
