Elizabeth H. Whatley leaves behind lasting legacy at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ lost a long time friend this week as Mrs. Elizabeth H. Whatley passed away at the age of 89. Services for Mrs. Whatley will be held Saturday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. in Longview at the mausoleum at Rosewood Park.

?Mrs. Whatley and her husband James loved ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. I am so glad that she got to experience the impact she had on our college first hand before she passed away. The Whatleys truly left a legacy that will live on for many†generations to come,? Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Vice President for Advancement, said.

The Whatleys contributed more than $2.6 million to ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ since classes began in 1985. This includes a record-breaking $1.7 million gift in 2007. The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts, The Elizabeth Hoggatt Whatley Agriculture Complex, and the James Whatley Memorial Park in Pittsburg all bear the family name. The Whatleys have also funded scholarship endowments and professional development grants for ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ employees.

Mrs. Whatley was honored with the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation?s Distinguished Benefactor Award in 2013.
