The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation recently received a $10,000 gift from the East Texas Communities Foundation and the Burt and Nancy Marans Estate. Dr. Brad Johnson, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ President (right) and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Vice President for Advancement, are pictured receiving the donation. †The funds will be used to begin the restoration process for the Dr. John Biggers mural that will be relocated from Pewitt Elementary School to the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Charlie and Helen Hampton Learning Resource Center. The mural will be on loan to the college for public display, along with a variety of other Biggers pieces the college already owns. Biggers is a well known, highly respected African American artist, muralist, author and lecturer who passed away in 2001. With the addition of the mural, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ will be home to the largest known collection of Biggers artwork. To learn more about this project, contact McCullough at 903-434-8115.†
