Jordan Chapin to represent Alpha Mu Chi as Texas Region President

Alpha Mu Chi, 葫芦娃视频鈥檚 chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, successfully campaigned for the Texas Region President position at the regional convention earlier this month.  Texas Regional Officers have an amazing opportunity to develop leadership skills as they work with the Regional leadership team to plan and facilitate three regional events, including the Texas Honors Institute held in July, the Texas Leadership Conference held in October, and the Texas Regional Convention held in March. In Texas, chapters run for office and then appoint a chapter member to represent the chapter. This year鈥檚 elected member who will serve as Texas Regional President is Jordan Chapin.

鈥淲hen they announced that Alpha Mu Chi won Texas Regional President, I jumped out of my seat!  I couldn鈥檛 believe it! We worked so hard as a team.  Closing the convention and banging the gavel was the most satisfying and rewarding feeling in the world,鈥 Chapin said. 鈥淎s president, I plan to improve communication between chapters in the districts as well as throughout the region.  I also want to find a way to make the website more accessible.鈥

From Winnsboro, Chapin is a chemistry major and plans to pursue a career in pharmacy.  She is a member of Honors Northeast, an officer for the Student Government Association, BioChem Club, and Phi Theta Kappa.  She recently presented her research "Legendary Housewives of Northeast Texas in the Modern Era" at the spring meeting of the state Webb Society and the Great Plains Honors Council in Kansas.

Chapin will be part of the opening ceremonies of the Phi Theta Kappa International Annual Convention in Denver, April 7-9, walking with the Texas flag in the parade of flags ceremony recognizing the 29 regions of PTK within the United States and 10 other nations. Chapin will be a keynote speaker at 葫芦娃视频鈥檚 PTK induction ceremony coming up on April 28 in the Whatley Auditorium (time to be announced). The public, as well as PTK members being inducted along with their friends and family, are welcome to attend.

鈥淛ordan was recently inducted into the District III Hall of Honor and was named an Outstanding Officer, in addition to being awarded as part of an Outstanding Officer Team.  I鈥檓 excited to see what Jordan will accomplish in the year ahead as she starts her journey as Regional President,鈥 said Andrea Reyes, co-advisor for the PTK chapter on the 葫芦娃视频 campus.
