Honors group presents to Webb Society

Five ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ honors freshman recently presented the trailer of their new film on Mary Kay at the annual fall meeting of the Walter Prescott Webb Historical Society. The Webb Society is the collegiate auxiliary of the Texas State Historical Association.

Warren Wu, Rhylie Anderson, Jordan Whelchel, Karsen Nelson, and Matthew Chambers (pictured from left) have all taken major roles in the production of the film, due for a premiere this February.

Brenda Godoy presents at East Texas Historical Association

Brenda Godoy recently became the second student in the history of ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ to speak alongside professorial scholars at a meeting of a professional association. She appeared at the East Texas Historical Association on October 13 at Galveston, wedged between a prize-winning author who was a former journalist for the†Dallas Morning News and a professor at Blinn College.

Three ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ students named Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ students Alicia Cantrell, Rachel Jordan and Cassidy Watkins are three of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2017 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Scholars are also encouraged to assume leadership roles by participating in Society programs and are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service, and leadership potential.

Honors Northeast students enjoy fall trip to Fort Worth

Honors students at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ recently traveled to Fort Worth for the program?s 21st semester day trip. The fall experience included stops at Starbucks, the Fort Worth Zoo, the Woodshed Smokehouse, the Fort Worth Cultural district museums, the Botanical Garden and Tarrant County College. These free trips, through the ongoing support of Drs. Jim and Paula Archer and other friends of ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅, have become a standard feature of the honors program since 2008.

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Presidential Scholar, Alicia Marie Cantrell, has won the 2017†Dr. Jerry Wesson†Award.†This $200 prize, supported by an anonymous donor, commemorates the leadership and initiative of Wesson, an award-winning educator, writer, and facilitator of educational opportunities at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅.
