Alpha Mu Chi, ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, received a grant from the Mellon Foundation to help fund a documentary dealing with the issues of accessibility for the visually challenged. Inspired in part by the increasing use of the internet for business and education this year, a move that that left large segments of the population, such as the visually challenged, underserved, the chapter sought to explore the issues of accessibility in more depth.

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Office of Student Activities, Student Government Association, Social Work Club and The Wesley Fellowship Student Center are partnering together to host a campus wide Advent Calendar food drive to support The Eagle Pantry. Psi beta inductees

Carolina Alcocer-Salas, the president of ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s award-winning chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, Alpha Mu Chi and the secretary of the student council of Honors Northeast, has won the 2020 Dr. Charles B. Florio Award for Leadership. Alcocer-Salas will receive $200, given by an anonymous donor, in honor of ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s longest-term president.

Since 2008, ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s honors students have presented scholarly posters at the National Collegiate Honors Council. This year the meeting went virtual. But five ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ scholars both made the cut to present, joining 300 other undergraduate researchers from around the nation, and filed their MP4 video files, posters, and personal statements in time for the virtual conference. Over 90 percent of those exhibiting scholarly posters were university students.

Carter BloodCare will be on campus Tuesday, November 3, 2020 conducting a blood drive. Please help save a life by donating blood!  The blood drive bus will be in the parking lot by the Student Union Building from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ student Carolina Alcocer-Salas, from Winfield, recently received the Walter B Cooper Scholarship at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Leadership Conference. The conference, held October 16-19 virtually this year, recognized five winners from across the entire state of Texas. The Walter B Cooper Scholarship recognizes outstanding students who are β€œwell-rounded” in the four Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship.
