The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Art Department will host an exhibit featuring paintings by Gary Perrone Friday, Feb. 7 through Wednesday, Feb. 26. A reception with the artist is will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer gallery. Refreshments will be served.

new honors scholars

Honors Northeast, the Honors Program at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ since 2007, has admitted three new members for the spring semester.

In this the 8th cinematic premiere of a story from the Texas past in as many years, Honors Northeast, and the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Webb Society will feature the story of Adina De Zavala. She was the granddaughter of Texas’ First Vice President, Lorenzo De Zavala. She and her San Antonio Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas played the pivotal role in re-centering and Catholicizing the nature of Texas patriotism in the early twentieth-century.  The movie, at 7PM on Friday, 21 February at the Whatley Center of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is free, and the public is invited.  The script is based on an original interpretation of the De Zavala story pursued by the scholars of Honors Northeast. Thanks to the patrons of Honors Northeast, there will also be free refreshments after the film, and a panel discussion led by student actors and directors of the feature-length production.

PTA class of 2019

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program recently learned that all 12 of its December 2019 graduating class passed their professional licensure exam on the first try. Upon graduating with their Associate of Applied Science degree in PTA, graduates are required to sit for the NPTE Board Exam before starting their professional careers.

Mercedes Collins, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ’s 2019-20 Texas Heritage Bank Scholar, had the highest combined grade in the Fall of 2019 Humusic Seminar, a learning community that combines modern world history, and music appreciation.  Katelyn Cox came ahead of her peers in the Biotex Seminar, that combines general biology with Texas history.

This Saturday, 25 January, English will make what will probably be the first of several shorter presentations of the film story, showing only certain segments.  He will speak after a dinner at the Alamo Mission Museum to the friends of this Franklin County institution.

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Art Club would like to invite students who have an interest in art or art history to consider joining. Club meetings are held on Tuesdays from 12:30-1:20 p.m. in the art lab in Humanities. Students from all majors are welcome to attend!

Christian music superstar Steven Curtis Chapman will perform at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Campus on Monday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. In a career that has spanned over 30 years, Chapman is the most awarded artist in Christian music history with 58 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, five GRAMMYs®, an American Music Award, 48 No. 1 singles, selling more than eleven million albums and with ten RIAA-certified gold or platinum albums to his credit.

Carter BloodCare will be on campus Tuesday, January 28, 2020 conducting a blood drive. Please help save a life by donating blood! The blood drive bus will be in the parking lot over by the Student Union Building from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
