Faculty Focus: Fulgham co-writes instructor's manual for Norton textbook

Our own Dr. Melissa Fulgham, Division Chair of Social Sciences and Professor of History, recently co-wrote the instructor's manual for the 10th edition (most recent) of Norton's history textbook†America: A Narrative History. †Her past textbook work includes†being an acknowledged reviewer for McGraw Hill's†Experience History†and writing the instructor resource materials for Bedford/St.

Do you know someone who is interested in learning English or completing their GED (General Education Development)? The Adult Education Program at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ offers free GED and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes at a variety of convenient locations. Registration for all locations will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N. Riddle Street on the following dates: August 9, 11, 15 and 17.

Both daytime and evening classes are available.

Honors Northeast seeks entries for poetry contest

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and Honors Northeast†recently†announced a call for original poems to enter the ninth†annual Northeast Texas Poetry Contest. The judges will be looking for poems that can accent or enliven our sense of the surroundings, people, the culture, and/or the history of Northeast Texas. Adult winners will take home $200 for first place and $50 for second place. Full-time student winners will receive $400 for first place, $300 for second, $200 for third, and $100 for fourth. All ages are welcome to enter the contest.
