Bestselling author Laura Schroff speaks at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ

Bestselling author and motivational speaker, Laura Schroff, spoke at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts this week. The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation sponsored the event as part of its annual Distinguished Lecture Series. Schroff shared the inspirational true story behind her book,†An Invisible Thread, which shot to the top of the New York Times Bestseller List after its release in 2011.

Honors Northeast to premier original Harriet Potter Ames film

Perhaps the most revered and controversial Northeast Texas legend of all time is the story of Harriet Potter Ames.† In 1959 it was immortalized in an international best-seller,†Love is a Wild Assault,†by Elithe Kirkland.† It is a tale with Shakespearean dimensions that plays out against the backdrop of the Texas Revolution, and Caddo Lake.

In a cinematic version of the story,†ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's Walter Webb Society under the auspices of Honors Northeast will re-present the story on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Michael Minadeo gives ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Nursing scholarships

Dr. Michael Minadeo recently contributed $2,000 to the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation. The funds are designated for scholarships to be used by students enrolled in the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Nursing Program. Dr. Minadeo (right) is pictured presenting the gift to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Vice President for Advancement. Carroll Shelby was born and raised in East Texas minutes from Adam Poland?s home town of Mount Vernon, Texas. As a way of giving back to his community and career, Carroll Shelby funded the startup of the Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, located in Mount Pleasant, Texas. The program provides an avenue for motorsports-minded students to develop their skills in prepartion of working as technicians in the motorsports industry.

Chamber of Commerce names Judy Jackson Woman of the Year

Congratulations to our very own Judy Jackson! She was presented with the Drucilla Pruitt Memorial Woman of the Year Award at Thursday's Pittsburg-Camp County Chamber of Commerce banquet. Allen Weatherford (pictured right) presented Judy with the award. Judy was acknowledged for her years of active service for both ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ and other Camp County causes.
