Berlin natives visit with ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ German class

Students in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's new German 1311 class recently had visitors from†Berlin, Germany.† Uwe and Henny Goettert are currently living in Toronto while Henny completes her degree in molecular genetics. †They were visiting in the Pittsburg area with Henny?s former host family from 2000-2001, when she was a foreign exchange student to the US.

Henny was born in East Berlin when the Berlin Wall was still standing. She was four years old when it fell in 1989.

Men's soccer continues winning streak

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ (ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ) Men?s Eagles Soccer team won†four†of†four†games this week., shutting out†Jacksonville College,†Paris Junior†College†and Coastal Bend College, while giving up only one goal to Laredo Community College. The Eagles are†now†ranked†fifth†in the nation according to the National Junior College Athletic Association coaches poll this week.

Seats going fast for Christmas Plano trip

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Hanson Sewell Center is planning a day trip to Plano on Saturday, December 13. The day will begin when guests board a chartered coach in Pittsburg. The trip will include a short shopping excursion to Plano's Willow Bend Shopping Mall before heading to Prestonwood Baptist Church. There, guests will enjoy a delicious Holiday Lunch Buffet followed by the production,†The Gift of Christmas.

The Northeast Police Academy at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is now accepting applications for its next evening†police academy, which begins on†Monday, Oct. 27.



The evening academy†meets from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every first and third Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.†The program will end in late May 2015.†This program is designed for working adults who may not have time to complete the daytime academy.

Building 429 to play at Whatley Center

† † † Grammy nominated Christian rock group Building 429 will perform at the†ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus in the Whatley Center for the†Performing Arts on October 19 at 6:30 p.m. The Whatley Center is bringing†the band's†We Won't Be Shaken†Tour to Mount Pleasant. The tour is named†for the band's eighth album, which was nominated for the 2014 Best†Contemporary Christian Music Album Grammy award in January.





Texas A&M scholar to speak on history of Northeast Texas

Dr. Walter Buenger, former chair of the History Department at Texas A&M University College Station, and former president of the Texas State Historical Association, will speak at Omaha's historic Concord church†Friday, Oct. 24†after a dinner starting at 6:00 p.m.† Concord is ten miles east of Mount Pleasant.
