It's time to put on your best Halloween costume, dust off your trick-or-treat basket and head out to ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ for the†26th†annual Scare Affair.

The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.†19th†on the plaza of the main ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ campus (located on FM 1735 near Chapel Hill ISD). There will be free candy for all trick-or-treaters, low-cost games for all ages, a costume contest with cash prizes and much more! A haunted house will be open until 10:30 p.m.

"Scare affair is ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅?s biggest community event of the year.

Wilson gives $10,000 to fund ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ scholarship

Mr. Gilbert Wilson (left), of Pittsburg, recently gave $10,000 to the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Foundation. Dr. Jonathan McCullough (right), ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Vice President for Advancement, is pictured receiving the donation. The gift will fund the Wilson Family Scholarship, which is named in memory of Mr. Wilson's parents. The perpetual scholarship will provide deserving ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ students with one $500 scholarship each year. Free GED classes offered in Naples

The Adult Education Department at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ is offering free General Education Development (GED) classes at the Naples Civic Center at 412 W.L. Doc Dodson Blvd (Hwy. 67 W). Students interested in attending classes must enroll in a 12-hour orientation.†The GED exam is changing in January 2014. At that time, all students seeking a GED will be required to complete the entire new test.

Job fair planned for September 24

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ will host a job fair on Tuesday, September 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the main ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ campus. The event is free to the public.†More than a dozen local and regional employers will be in attendance.

?We realize that the job market is†tough†right now. We are offering this fair as an opportunity for job seekers to get face time with area hiring managers,?

Whiskey Myers, Bri Bagwell to perform at Whatley Center



The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts will host an evening of Texas Country on Tuesday, Sept. 24 with a double-feature concert including Whiskey Myers and Bri Bagwell.




The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5 for students and $15 for adults. The show is general admission and reservations are recommended, but not required. Call 903-434-8181 to hold your tickets.


Thursday buffets are back at Our Place

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Culinary Arts Program will host three special Buffet Nights on Thursdays this fall. These will be held †at the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Culinary Institute ("Our Place") in historic downtown Pittsburg and are open to the public.



Dinners will be held†from 6:00-7:30 p.m.†on September 19, October 3, and October 17. Seating is restaurant-style and to-go orders will be available by calling ahead to 903-434-8333 The cost is $10 per person. Reservations for dine-in will not be accepted.

Skinny Trammell artist reception held

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Art Department held an artist reception featuring local artist Skinny Trammell on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The Lone Star resident's hand-crafted musical instruments were a featured exhibit in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts foyer.†Skinny is 84 years old and fishes every day, makes musical instruments, and tells a few yarns now and then. The instruments on display at the Whatey include guitars, fiddles, ukuleles, and dobros.
