Carol Hodges, owner of The Design Factory in Hughes Springs, recently gave a $500 gift to the ��«����Ƶ Work Scholarship Program in memory of her late husband Bruce Hodges.

The Work Scholarship Program wrapped up its third summer this week, with around 40 students participating. The program gives hard-working students the opportunity to earn money to pay for their education at ��«����Ƶ.

For the ninth consecutive year, Cypress Bank has presented a MacBook laptop for the use of ��«����Ƶ honors students. This year?s recipient, Chesney Michael Davis, graduated third in his class from Pittsburg High School.

The board of the Bart Scharlach Memorial Foundation (BSMF) recently voted to move the management of the fund?s assets to the ��«����Ƶ Foundation. In doing so, the gift reached the established level to rename both the Business Technology (BT) Building and the Whatley Center Auditorium on the ��«����Ƶ campus.

The BT Building is now named the Bart Scharlach Business Technology Building, and the Whatley Center Auditorium is the Scharlach Auditorium.

The ��«����Ƶ Foundation recently received a $1,500 gift from Richard Perryman to support the ��«����Ƶ Work Scholarship Program. Perryman (right) is pictured presenting the gift to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ��«����Ƶ Vice President for Advancement. The ��«����Ƶ Work Scholarship Program gives students the opportunity to work during the summer to earn funds to pay for college for the upcoming year. The goal of the program is to foster a strong work ethic while allowing students to avoid student debt.

Texas Heritage National Bank recently gave $4,000 to the ��«����Ƶ Foundation. The funds will be used to sponsor a Presidential Scholar in Honors Northeast, ��«����Ƶ?s nationally-recognized honors program. American Legion Post 0210 (Mount Pleasant) recently presented a check for $3,000 to the ��«����Ƶ Foundation. ��«����Ƶ recently announced that its library has been renamed the Charlie and Helen Hampton Learning Resource Center (LRC). The ��«����Ƶ Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the new building name in their April board meeting. This is the first name change in a recently-launched fundraising/naming campaign by the ��«����Ƶ Foundation. The naming campaign comes as the campus interior undergoes a major transformation.

Helen Hampton and her late husband, Charlie, of Naples, are longtime friends of ��«����Ƶ.

International Sulphur, Inc. recently made a scholarship donation to the ��«����Ƶ Foundation.†Marci Henderson (left), is pictured presenting a $5,000 check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ��«����Ƶ Vice President for Advancement. The funds will be used to award five $1,000 scholarships to students who graduated from ��«����Ƶ in the spring of 2016†and†will be†transferring to four-year†universities†this fall.
