The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagle Food Pantry announced this week that it will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-5:30 p.m. throughout the fall semester. The pantry is located in the CARE Center in IA 105. 

The pantry offers an assortment of fresh, canned, and packaged foods for current ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ students and their families. Students can access our pantry once a month by presenting their current student ID.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Athletics wants to welcome all back to the campus for the 2022-2023 year. For those who are new, or returning we wanted to introduce the coaching staff to you. Each week we will send out a bio on each of the coaching staff. We are starting out with Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Andy Morgan.

Andy Morgan arrived at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ as head baseball coach in 2017. Coach Morgan was named Athletic Director in January of 2018. In a decade of college baseball, Northeast Texas will mark Morgan’s second junior college head coaching position, while also having two stops as a recruiting coordinator and hitting coach at the D1 level.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is pleased to announce the 2022-2023 schedule at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. Season tickets are on sale now by calling the box office at 903-434-8181 and regular will begin September 1st.

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Computer Services team is urging the campus community to stay vigilant to avoid cyber-attacks. Recently, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ has seen a dramatic increase in the number of spam and spear phishing e-mails sent to college accounts. According to Sebastian Barron, Director of Computer Services and Enterprise Systems, hackers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their efforts to lure people to provide sensitive information.

The annual Northeast Texas Poetry Reading on Friday, 2 September at 11 AM will again occur at the Foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus. The public is invited for this free event, the fifteenth of its kind in as many years.

The safety and security of students, faculty and staff is a top priority at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. In the event of a campus emergency, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ will send Eagle Alerts via text, voice and e-mail through the IRIS dispatch system.

On August 11, three ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ students presented their chemistry research at a symposium held at Texas A&M Commerce. Jonathan Wilcox, John Rodriguez, and Jordin Chapin were selected to participate in a 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). These research experiences engage students in meaningful chemistry research alongside graduate students in the research labs and are funded by the National Science Foundation. All three were chemistry students of Dr. Drew Murphy, who recommended they apply for the REU.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Women’s and Men’s Soccer teams returned to campus on August 10th to begin preparing for the upcoming season. Recently promoted Head Coaches, Heather Brady will oversee the Women’s program and Juan (JD) Perales will oversee the Men’s program.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ celebrated August 2022 commencement on Friday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A total of 94 graduates were awarded 57 certificates of competency and 61 associate degrees. Whitnee Floyd gave the student welcome and Courtney Baldwin delivered the student response.
