Summer Shout Out: IT Department

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is pleased to announce that our IT Department and Sebastian Barron, Director of Computer and Technical Services, has been nominated for our very first Summer Shout Out. The computer services team does a phenomenal job of keeping our campus systems up and running, making our network safe and so much more.

Congratulations to Austin Baker, Sebastian Barron, Logan Beasley, Adam Bise, Robert Suarez and their awesome student workers! We appreciate all that you do to support the mission of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.

Work4College Update

For the eighth consecutive year, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is hosting the summer Work4College program. Over 10-weeks, students in the program have the opportunity to work in 21 different areas across 3 different campuses to earn income for their future ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ education.

Adult Education offering free Fast Track GED, Computer Literacy classes

The Adult Education Department at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is accepting new students for its Fast Track GED (General Educational Development) and Computer Literacy classes beginning July 6, 2021. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration, which begins June 21, 2021. Fast Track GED classes will be held at the Community Resource Center (old Mt. Pleasant High School) at 105 N.

Brandon Foster Memorial Endowed Scholarship fund established at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation recently received a $15,000 gift from Brantley and Suzanne Foster of Mount Pleasant. Additionally, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ received a $10,000 gift from Kappa Pi. Combined, the funds will create the Brandon Foster Memorial Endowed Scholarship at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.

Scholarship established in memory of Dr. Winston McCowan

McCowan (right) is pictured with Dr. Ron Clinton, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ President, in 2018 to commemorate his retirement.

 

Longtime ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ professor, Dr. Winston McCowan, Sr., passed away on May 30, 2021. Dr. McCowan retired from ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ in 2018 from his position as a Professor of Biology. Dr. McCowan had a passion for helping students and he made a great impact on so many during his 33 years of dedicated service to the college. He is missed greatly by his friends and colleagues.
