Madison Blood Wins the 2018 Chitsey Award

Madison Lee Blood was recently named the winner of the 2018 Chitsey Award, granted each year to the student of Honors Northeast who most exceeded expectations.† Blood received a $200 check and certificate.† The former Big Sandy Valedictorian impressed all of her professors in her first semester at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ as fastidious, hard-working, and astute.† Her work on the emancipation of horses from war-pawns and draft slaves, to ?Black Beauty?

Whatley Center to host Mount Pleasant Art Society Show

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Art Department will host the Mount Pleasant Art Society Annual Membership Show March 10-30 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The competitive show features artwork from a variety of local artists. A reception will be held Saturday, March 10 from 2:00-3:30 p.m., where the winners will be announced. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Please call 903-434-8181 to ensure that the gallery is open before you come to visit.

Morris County Retired Teachers give $500 to ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Work Scholarship Program

The Retired Teachers Association of Morris County recently gave $500 to the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation to support the Work Scholarship Program at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. The 5th Annual Engineering Roundtable at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ was held on Friday, February 2, 2018 in the Whatley Center Foyer on campus.† Since 2014, this event has become an annual opportunity for both students who are currently enrolled in the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ engineering program and students from area high schools who are interested in the field of engineering. Eagles Baseball beats Weatherford College 11-9

The†ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagles†baseball team beat Weatherford College 11-9 Wednesday in an away game. The Eagles managed through an early push by Weatherford in the first inning where ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ coughed up six runs, but came back to win 11-9.

The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game.†ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ†collected 15 hits and Weatherford College had eight.
