ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ to host annual NIRA Rodeo

Rodeo fans will get to see more than 300 athletes from throughout the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) compete for points and prizes next weekend as ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ its 25th annual rodeo. The event will be held October 20-21 at the Pittsburg Rodeo Arena on HWY 271 N in Pittsburg.

Rodeo action will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday Night and at 1 p.m. on Saturday Afternoon.

Honors Northeast students enjoy fall trip to Fort Worth

Honors students at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ recently traveled to Fort Worth for the program?s 21st semester day trip. The fall experience included stops at Starbucks, the Fort Worth Zoo, the Woodshed Smokehouse, the Fort Worth Cultural district museums, the Botanical Garden and Tarrant County College. These free trips, through the ongoing support of Drs. Jim and Paula Archer and other friends of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, have become a standard feature of the honors program since 2008.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Presidential Scholar, Alicia Marie Cantrell, has won the 2017†Dr. Jerry Wesson†Award.†This $200 prize, supported by an anonymous donor, commemorates the leadership and initiative of Wesson, an award-winning educator, writer, and facilitator of educational opportunities at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Culinary Arts to host dinner Oct. 26

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Culinary Arts Program will host a special Thursday Night Dinner on Oct. 26.† The dinner will be held at the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Culinary School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public.

The menu for the evening will include bacon-wrapped stuffed meatloaf with rosemary roasted potatoes and country green beans with yeast rolls and a dessert to be determined.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, Oct. 12. Due to high demand at previous events, the Culinary Arts Program has moved to a ticketed event rather than first-come-first-served.

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ†Art†Department will host its second art exhibit†of the 2017-2018 school year October 2- 27 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing†Arts. The show, ?Crystal & Glass?, will feature watercolors by†artist Mollie Jones.†A reception with the†artist will be held Thursday, October 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer.
