Tommy Lee Biker Run donates $5,000 for ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ scholarships

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation recently received a gift for $5,000. These funds were raised at the annual Tommy Lee Memorial Biker Run and will be used to provide scholarships to Camp County students attending ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. Fast track office skills certificate program begins April 2


Limited seats are still available for ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ's new fast track office skills certificate program that begins April 2. This 21-hour course is designed to help individuals cultivate the skills necessary to seek entry-level work in an office setting. Topics covered will include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, business etiquette and more. The course also serves as a bridge into more advanced certificates or an associate of applied science degree in office technology.†

Two Presidential Scholars win essay awards

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Presidential Scholars Isaac Burris and Morgan Capps both received top awards during the recent meeting of the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA)† in Corpus Christi.

At a session of the Walter Webb Society on March 7, the collegiate auxiliary of the TSHA, Capps won second†place and $300 for her essay on Ma and Pa Ferguson, a Texas gubernatorial couple during the early 20th century.† Isaac Burris won fourth†place and $75 for his essay on the dynamics of Sam Houston?s friendship with his slave, Jeff Hamilton.

Ron Clinton to perform piano concert



Dr. Ron Clinton, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Executive Vice President for Instruction, will perform a solo piano recital on Sunday, March 22 at†2:30 p.m. at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.†Tickets to the concerts are $10 for adults and $5 for children and ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ students with a current ID. Proceeds from the event will benefit scholarships for ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ students.

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation recently received an anonymous $6,000 donation to sponsor six students in the new ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Work Scholarship Program. Nita May (left), ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Director of Development, and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Vice President for Advancement, accepted the gift on behalf of the Foundation. The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Culinary Arts Program will host a †public Spring Supper Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m. This event will be held at the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Culinary Arts School in historic downtown Pittsburg and is open to the public.





The meal is first-come-first-served and no reservations will be accepted. The cost is $12 per person. Seating is limited.†To go orders can be phoned in the day of the event at 903-434-8333.

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation Board recently held its annual business meeting. Dr. Jim Archer, a retired ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ professor, was installed as president by outgoing president, Judy Weiss. Other officers elected included Jane Scharlach, Vice President and Rick Nelson, Secretary.†The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation is a non-profit corporation that was established in 1984. Its purpose is to receive and administer gifts to enhance educational excellence at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ.
