Members of Honors Northeast and the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Webb Society are in the midst of an intense film week that has taken them, in 100-degree weather, from Lake Bob Sandlin to Lake Nacogdoches. They are working on their 12th feature-length film on Texas history legends. This yearβs script is about the traveling preachers of early Texas.
Christi Denney (left) recently presented Nita May, Director of Development with the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Foundation, with $2,000 to support the Nita DeWoody Memorial Scholarship fund. Multiple donations were received to contribute to the scholarship in memory of JW Hooper, father of Denney and DeWoody, who passed away in 2023.
βSadly, we lost our father as well this year. The family is very appreciative of those who gave memorial gifts to honor our dad and keep Nitaβs scholarship fund going,β Denney said.

ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ will host its August 2023 commencement ceremony on Friday, Aug. 11 in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Seating is limited, so only guests who have tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. Graduation will be streamed live on and for those who are unable to attend in person.

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Work4College Program celebrated the end of summer with its annual appreciation luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Work4College donors, supervisors, students and their families attended the event in the Student Union Building. This is the 9th year of the program and more than 90 students participated.

PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of this position is the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, and participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations. Michelle Calderon and Aubrey Watkins were recently awarded scholarships at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Honors Institute. The PTK convention concluded on July 16 and scholarships were awarded. Those who have received the STAR scholarships from Phi Theta Kappa demonstrated academic and leadership promise. Phi Theta Kappa members from any community college in the state of Texas are eligible for the award.
