XYZ Club gives $1,000 for scholarship

The XYZ Club of Mount Pleasant Recently donated $1,000 to provide a scholarship to a student at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅. The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Eagles soccer program will hold tryouts for both the men's and women's teams on Saturday, March 10. Women's tryouts are at noon and the men's tryout is at 2 p.m. on the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ soccer field. Theatre Northeast presents Love Letters March 2-4

Boy meets girl. Girl writes boy. Girl and Boy correspond throughout their lives. That more or less sums up the romantic comedy,†Love Letters, by A. R. Gurney, to be presented by Theatre Northeast on March 2-4 at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ campus.

Friday and Saturday (March 2 and 3) shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday, March 3 performance will be at 2:05 p.m.†Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 age 17 and under and $3 for senior citizens, ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ faculty and staff.

Carolyn Pope receives Adult Education Teacher of the Year Award

The Adult Education department at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ recently announced that GED (General Education Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor Carolyn Pope of Mount Pleasant has received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) Adult Education Teacher of the Year Award. Pope, who has taught adult education with ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ since 1990, was nominated for this honor by colleagues and students. She†received the award at the annual TALAE Awards Dinner on February 2 in San Antonio.
