The Northeast Police Academy at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is offering a capstone course for prospective cadets who already hold an associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice and wish to become a certified peace officer. The capstone academy begins May 17 and ends August 11 and will be held during evening on weekdays on the Main ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus.

Eagles sweep Navarro, move to first in conference

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagles baseball team moved into first place in the conference Saturday after sweeping a double-header at defending national champion Navarro College in Corsicana, 2-1 and 4-2.

The wins cap a streak that has seen the Eagles win 10 of 12 games in the second round of conference competition and 12 of their last 14 games overall.
The Eagles (24-9, 18-6) came into the weekend series in a tie with the Bulldogs but left Corsicana with a one-game lead in the Region XIV Eastern Zone stan

The Adult Education department at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ recently announced that ESL (English as Second Language) student Maria De La Luz Dominguez (pictured) of Mount Pleasant has received the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education (TALAE) ESL Student Persistence Award. This statewide honor is awarded to students who exhibit personal accountability and commitment to pursuing their education while maintaining their family and civic responsibilities. A award of $500 was given during the TALAE Awards Dinner in San Antonio earlier this month.

Ks 4 Kids Day at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Friday, April 6

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagles baseball and softball teams will host a special Ks 4 Kids Day at the Ballpark on Fri., April 6. The evening will feature free baseball and softball minicamps for kids of all ages. The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagles baseball team starts the second game of their doubleheader against Bossier Parrish at 5 p.m. The softball camp gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

Two ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ students receive national scholarship honors

Two ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Presidential Scholars were recently awarded national scholarships through the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Jessica Rogers and Isaac Griffin were named 2012 Coca-Cola Gold Scholars and will each receive a $1,500 scholarship. In addition, Griffin was also named a Phi Theta Kappa Guistwhite Scholar and will receive another $5,000 scholarship to go towards his bachelor's degree.

Shelby Automotive department to host car and bike show



The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Carroll Shelby Automotive Club will host a Car and Bike Show on Satuday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All makes and models are welcome and People's Choice awards will be given.




Registration is $20 per vehicle. People's Choice classes include: Shelby, Modern, Classic, Truck, Bike, and Miscellaneous (ATVs, etc.). Winners will receive plaques. †A Best of Show award will also be given. The event is free for the general public.

Soccer tryouts rescheduled for April 14

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagles soccer program will hold tryouts for both the men?s and women?s teams on Saturday, April 14. Women?s tryouts are at 11 a.m. and the men?s tryout is at 1 p.m. on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ soccer field. Campus tours will follow. ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ rodeo looks to nationals as season winds down

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ men?s rodeo team won third overall at the Texas A&M Kingsville Rodeo two weeks ago, adding another 150 points to their region standings. Those extra points helped the Eagles? ride up to the top when it comes to making the finals.

Dustin Jackson lit up the scoreboard taking home third place in the all-around men?s division.
