Alpha Mu Chi attends Texas Leadership Conference

Twelve members and advisors of Alpha Mu Chi chapter attended the 2023 Texas Leadership Conference on October 13th through 15th. Attendees included advisors Fatima Fuentes and Melody Mott, and members Vanessajane Bayna, Alison Majors, Ruby Ferretiz, Michelle Calderon, Victoria Matiz, and Neida Perez, Martin Ferretiz, Garrett Phillips, and Jose Lopez. As the District III Vice-President, Monserrat Rivero-Sanchez helped significantly with the planning and leading of the event. This year’s theme for the conference was “Play It Forward: Change the World.â€

Memorial scholarship fund established for Pat Tallant

     ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is mourning the loss of one of its own this week as longtime employee Pat Tallant passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 29th 2023. The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation has established a scholarship fund in her memory. ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Board holds October meeting

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Board of Trustees met for its regular October meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 31st. All six members were present. The seventh seat on the board is currently vacant, as Dr. Dan McCauley retired from his position in September. McCauley was on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Board since 1988 and was the longest-serving trustee in the college’s history.

Eagles Rodeo update

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Rodeo Team has been busy the last week with Rodeos on back to back weekends. ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ hosted the third Rodeo of season October 20-21 at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Arena and then went to McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana October 26-28.

A&M Texarkana to host Eagle Express transfer events

Texas A&M University Texarkana at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ will host Eagle Express events on November 2nd and 8th at the TAMUT office (UHS 113) on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus. The transfer event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all prospective students are invited to attend.

TAMUT staff will provide assistance with applications, registration, FAFSA, etc. There will also be snacks provided! Bring your own laptop to expedite the process. There is no application fee and everyone who applies or registers during the event will be entered into a drawing for a prize.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ holds Open House and Ribbon Cutting for Health Sciences Simulation Center

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ held an Open House and Ribbon Cutting event on Thursday, Oct. 19th to celebrate its new Health Sciences Simulation Center.

The state-of-the-art facility opened in August for the Fall 2023 semester and offers health science students the opportunity to receive hands-on training in a realistic setting. It is housed in the former Physical Fitness Annex building on the north side of the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus that had been in disrepair for a number of years.
