ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ partners with Advanced Dental Assistant School

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Continuing Education and Corporate Training department is pleased to announce a training partnership with Advanced Dental Assistant School in Naples. Their 15-week program prepares students for a career as a Professional Expanded Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA). Students who enroll through the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ partnership may be eligible for $1,000 in financial aid.

Rodeo Competes in Uvalde

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Rodeo team made the long trip down to Uvalde, Texas for the Southwest Texas Junior College Rodeo October 6-8th. This was the 60th Annual Rodeo put on by the SWTJC Rodeo team, which also had a special tribute to the victims of the tragic Uvalde School shooting this past spring.

Scare Affair planned for October 29th

It’s time to put on your best Halloween costume, dust off your trick-or-treat basket and head out to ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ for the 34th Annual Scare Affair. 

The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29th on the plaza of the main ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ campus (located on FM 1735 near Chapel Hill ISD). There will be free candy for all trick-or-treaters, low-cost games for all ages, a costume contest with cash prizes and much more!

Art department hosts decorative painters exhibit

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Art Department will host an exhibit featuring decorative painters from the Quitman chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters on October 7th through 26th in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts foyer. The exhibit will feature beautifully hand-painted pieces in a variety of media from various artists.  A reception will be held Wednesday, October 12th from 12:30 – 1:20 p.m. in the Whatley Center Foyer. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Petrucka wins TxETA award for original 10-minute play

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ’s Dr. Page Petrucka was recently honored by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA) for her original 10-minute play called Number 42. She received the award at the group’s annual Playfest event in Galveston this September.

Diamond C provides scholarships for Kids Discovery College

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation recently received a donation of $2,449 from Diamond C Trailers. The funds provided scholarships for 28 Titus County students in grades 4-6 to participate in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ’s 2022 Kids Discovery College. Diamond C partnered with the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Continuing Education Department and Communities In Schools (CIS) to ensure that money was not an obstacle for students who wanted to experience the two-week educational summer program. The scholarship provided two courses per student with no cost to the family.
