Scholars of Honors Northeast returned from the joint meeting of the Webb Society and the Texas State Historical Association in Austin last Saturday evening with over $1,000 in prizes, more than any other college or university in the state.  For the second year in a row, the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ film project, this year centered on the story of Adina De Zavala and the Alamo, won the $600 Group Caldwell Prize.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce that it will host a special performance by country and western artist Joni Harms on Monday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students.  

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Softball traveled to Cisco Junior College on Monday to take on the Wranglers in non-conference action. Cisco would win the slug fest in game one 17-16 while defeating the Eagles 12-4 in game two. 

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Baseball traveled to Lufkin on Saturday to take on Angelina College in games two and three of the opening conference series. Angelina would take down the Eagles 6-1 in game one and 7-6 in game two of the day to earn the series win. 

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Softball headed north to take on Eastern Oklahoma State College on Saturday, earning a split against the Mountaineers. ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ won game one of the day 9-0 behind stellar pitching from Averie Ayers.

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Art Department will host the Mount Pleasant Art Society Annual Membership Show March 9-26 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.

Students from ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ took part in reading events hosted by Hughes Springs and Daingerfield’s Head Start programs.  As a special project for their Voice for the Theatre class; Haylee Wilson, Star Williams, and Hailey Marshall adapted two Dr. Seuss books, then staged and rehearsed the new “reader’s theatre.â€

Campus safety is a priority for ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ has placed Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) strategically in all buildings on the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ main campus as well as the satellite locations in Pittsburg and Mount Pleasant. Each month Justin Hargrove, Head Athletic Trainer, performs routine safety/maintenance checks of each machine to ensure they are in proper working order.
