The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Psi Beta chapter will host a 5K Color Walk, Run or Crawl to Fight Suicide event on Saturday, April 13. The day will begin with a presentation from Allison Agan from Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center at 5:30 p.m. The event is part of a larger Stomp Out Suicide campus and community campaign aimed at bringing awareness to suicide prevention.

In a remarkable show of academic achievement, Honors Northeast scholars won all four 2019 Caldwell Awards for the freshman-sophomore-division essays of the Walter Webb Society, meeting last weekend in Corpus Christi.  They also won the group Caldwell Award for $600 for their film project on Barbara Conrad, produced by Miguel Paco, beating university, and college entries.

Six students from ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣơ’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa presented a workshop on β€œVolunteerism” at the District III meeting held at Paris Junior College February 16. Tonya Hammonds, Karla Fuentes, Lilly Haack, Olivia Griffin, Jacob Lambie, and Courtney Baldwin presented to representatives from several local colleges throughout the District.

Jeremy Kelln, Campus Liaison for Herring Bank will be providing the free financial seminar on campus.

It may still be winter, but spring is in the air at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ as the Eagles baseball and softball teams gear up for the spring seasons. Baseball will kick off the pre-season with a home series against Cowley College Feb. 1-2. Softball opens the same weekend at home with games against Mountain View and Hill College, both on Feb. 2.

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Board of Trustees voted to appoint Frankie King of Pittsburg to fill a vacant board seat last Tuesday night at the regular January meeting. King will serve in Place One, which became available after Jerry Webster retired from the board in December.
