The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Board of Trustees met Tuesday, Dec. 14 for its regular monthly meeting. Molly Abele, CPA with the firm Axley & Rode, gave the annual presentation of the college’s independent audit.  

The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Student Services building had a special visitor this week as Santa himself stopped by for a quick visit. Kenzie Messer, Enrollment Management Coordinator, had the honor of sitting down with him for a chat. Kenzie and Santa both agree...sign up for spring classes today! Classes start January 18.

The Adult Education Department at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration beginning January 3, 2022.  While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant. Please call 903-434-8341 for an appointment. The Continuing Education Department at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is currently accepting applications for its Pharmacy Technician program. Classes for the one-semester program begin January 18.

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ will be closed beginning Monday, Dec. 20 for the holiday break. Offices will reopen on Monday, Jan. 3. The Spring 2022 semester starts on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Need a history course for your degree? Consider taking HIST 2382 African-American History II. It meets the Core Curriculum requirement for United States History.  HIST 2382 covers the period from Reconstruction to the present, the same time period and events as covered in HIST 1302, but with some more colorful stories! The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation is pleased to announce that nine ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ employees have been awarded funds through the 2021 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 13 outstanding applications. Five were funded by the grant and four were funded by private donations.  The total for all funded projects totaled $12,600. 

The Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that fall outside the institution’s regular budget.  Each year, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ full-time employees may apply for the approximately $8,500 available. Projects are reviewed and selected by the volunteer members of the Whatley Employee Enhancement Committee.

The application for the 2022 ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Work4College Program is officially open! Those wishing to participate should visit  to apply. 

Moving into its ninth year of operation at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, Work4College is a scholarship program designed to give students the opportunity to work during the summer to earn money for college. While doing meaningful work on campus and learning important life skills, students are able to earn a paycheck and save for future classes at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. More than 80 students participated in 2021 and the college hopes to have close to 100 spots available in 2022.
