Daniel Alders, East Texas Regional Director for Senator Ted Cruz, visited ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Wednesday. Dr. Johnson and Dr. McCullough met with him to discuss legislative issues affecting ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. He toured the campus and learned about the innovative programs and initiatives being implemented by our faculty and staff.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ will present Christmas with the Nelsons Monday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Starring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, twin sons of Ricky Nelson, Christmas with the Nelsons tells the story of three family Christmases in the lives of America?s Favorite Family- The Nelsons.
?It has become tradition to have a holiday show at the Whatley Center and we are very pleased to bring you Christmas with the Nelsons.
ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ offices will be closed and classes will not meet Wednesday, Nov. 23†through Friday, Nov. 25†in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is hosting an evening Police Academy (Basic Peace Officer Training) beginning January 9, 2017†at the Elementary School building in New Boston. The training program is 34 weeks and meets from 5:30-10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every second and fourth Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cost is $1,556 plus books and uniforms. ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ offers affordable payment plans and this program qualifies for limited grant assistance for eligible students.
The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Foundation recently received a $35,000 gift from the Texas Pioneer Foundation. Fred Markham (left), Executive Director of the Texas Pioneer Foundation, is pictured presenting the check to Dr. Jonathan McCullough, ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Vice President for Advancement. The funds will be used to support the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Work Scholarship Program. The Texas Pioneer Foundation is a private foundation that supports programs that will improve the quality and results of education for all Texas students.
The Carroll Shelby Automotive Technology Program at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ recently enjoyed a visit from Aaron Shelby, grandson of the late Carroll Shelby and Co-President of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. Shelby visited with students and faculty and toured the facilities. The Shelby Foundation has been a major supporter of the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ program since Carroll Shelby himself took an interest in providing opportunities for students in Northeast Texas.
ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ is now accepting applications for its upcoming Firefighter Academy. The program begins January 9, 2017 and runs through June 30. †Students will meet†Monday†through Thursday†evenings at the Central Fire Station in Mount Pleasant and alternating Saturdays.
The course of study will include†Firefighter I, Firefighter II, HazMat Awareness and HazMat Operations. The cost for the program is $1,664 plus books and personal protective equipment.
Theatre Northeast, the student theatre group of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ, will present its annual Children?s Play December 3 and 4 on the main stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts.
