People are encouraged to wear their favorite college t-shirt to highlight the spirit of higher education. GenTX is a statewide initiative†designed to increase the number of college going Texans.†GenTx Day celebrates all students and their journey toward higher education.
Culinary Arts program hosts Region 8 workshop
The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Culinary Arts Program and Chef Sara Hicks recently hosted the Fourth†Semi-Annual †?Culinary Camp? with Region 8.†This semester?s technique was ?super! Salads.? Chef Hicks works with area high school teachers on techniques that translate well into their classrooms.†This summer, Culinary Arts will host a ?weekend warrior? camp for the Region 8 participants.†These events are fun, educational, and, of course, delicious!

Eagles Baseball Update
The ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Eagles baseball team picked up a pair of big road wins Wednesday, downing the Paris Junior College Dragons in Paris, 6-5 and 1-0. The wins helped the Eagles improve to 15-28 overall this season and 9-19 in conference play.
The Eagles broke open a scoreless game in the third inning of Game One Wednesday, scoring five runs in the frame en route to a 6-5 victory.
Consecutive singles by Mason Mantle, Hayden Martin and James Lacy loaded the bases with no outs for the Eagles in the top of the third before Matt Durst brought in the game?s first run with an RBI single.
ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ holds Student Awards Ceremony
ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ held its annual Student Awards Ceremony in the Whatley Center on Thursday, April 18.This event gives ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ faculty an opportunity to recognize outstanding student achievement. Students must be nominated by a faculty member in order to receive one †of these awards. Below is the list of those honored at the event:

What better way to start a Saturday morning off than waking up at 4am? Psi Beta members Stephanie Murphy, Heather Humble, Dillon Gardner, Katie Worthey, Amanda Thigpen, Jessica Whitsel, John Coleman, and Florence Parker, along with Dr. Clay and Dr. Skaar did just that.†Meeting at ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ at 5am on March 23, Psi Beta associates headed out for Frisco, TX to attend the McGraw Hill Conference. The conference was a success in showing what opportunities psychology offers along with the benefits of Psi Beta.†Members were able to experience new learning products from McGraw Hill Co.
Theatre Northeast to present Inherit the Wind
Theatre Northeast is proud to present the ?classic courtroom drama,"†Inherit the Wind, by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. Performances will run April 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and April 28 at 2:05 p.m.
Described as ??one of the truly great American dramas of this century,?†Inherit the Wind†has as its†genesis the famous Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925.

Stephani Calderon of Mount Pleasant recently became the second student in ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ history to win the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship. This scholarship covers up to $30,000 annually at†the university of the student?s choice for a period ranging up to three years.

Seven students †from the ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ Ag Club attended the Texas Junior College Agricultural Association (TJCAA) Convention at Texas A&M University-Kingsville April 3-5.†Dakota Hall won second place†in the Outstanding Student Award and received a $500 scholarship.†Ashley Surman finished second†in Prepared Speaking, third†in Job Interview, and fourth†in Ag Economics quiz.†Taylor Hammonds and Syke Talsma finished third†in Public Relations, and David Underhill, Jared Lowery, and Julie McCoin helped ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ win third†in Chapter Sweepstakes.
