Phi Theta Kappa presents report at March board meeting

Dr. Melissa Weinbrenner, advisor for the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, presented a report to the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ board of trustees Tuesday night. She shared that ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅'s Alpha Mu Chi Chapter recently won 19 awards at the 2013 Texas Regional Convention in Dallas in addition being elected District III Vice President. J.T. and Kaye Brison sponsor As You Like It

J.T. and Kaye Brison recently presented a check to Carolyn Franks (right), Director of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅, to sponsor the upcoming performance of Shakespeare's†As You Like It. The national tour of the play, by the prestigious Acting Company of New York, will be presented one night only on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center. Hoppock named Alumni Ambassador by Texas A&M-Commerce



ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Professor of Theatre and Speech, Douglas Hoppock, was recently named an Alumni Ambassador by Texas A&M University-Commerce for the 2013 Alumni Ambassador Forum.




Each year, departments at A&M-Commerce choose former students return to campus for this event. It is the highest honor a department can bestow upon its alumni. Hoppock received his MA degree from the university in 1974, where he majored in theatre and minored in speech.

Recently, Texas A&M University-Texarkana?s new university President, Dr. Emily Cutrer met with Dr. Brad Johnson, ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ (ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅) President at the ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ campus in Mt. Pleasant. With three rodeos left in season, ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ in good position for CNFR

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ men finished second overall at Texas A&M University-Kingsville rodeo and the women finished sixth. Zack Bocco took first place in the men's All-Around after earning second in both Steer Wrestling and Team Roping Heeler. Wacey Hathcock won first in the Saddle Bronc event and Kyler Bramhall took second in Team Roping Header. Dustin Jackson also placed third in Bareback Riding. In women's action, Sadie Johnson finished in third place in the Goat Tying.

Eagles baseball fights for playoff spot

With just over a month left to play in the season the Eagles currently find themselves sitting in fourth place in the NJCAA Region XIV Eastern Zone. With an overall record of 11-18 and a conference mark of 5-9, the Eagles trail Paris Junior College (6-4), Panola (9-3) and Navarro (10-2) in the race to make the Regional Tournament.

?It has been a bit of a rough season for us so far, but we are not out of the playoff picture yet,? Eagles Head Coach Josh Stewart said.

Donovan Dowling named head soccer coach

Donovan Dowling has been named the new head coach of both the men?s and women?s soccer programs at ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅. Dowling comes to the program after spending the past two years at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.

In his two years at Fort Hays State University, an NCAA Division II member, Dowling was the top assistant for the men?s program which he helped build from the ground up, with the program?s inception beginning in the fall of 2011.

Eagles Soccer to hold informational meeting

The ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ Eagles Soccer program will host an informational meeting on Thursday, March 21. All current ΊωΒ«ΝήΚΣΖ΅ students who are considering trying out for either the men's or women's soccer team for the Fall 2013 semester should plan to attend this important event.



The meeting will will be held at 7 p.m. room 101 of the Student Union Building. Attendees should bring a pen and notebook with them to the meeting.
